My name is Kathryn Poe and I'm a student at Capital University. My current major is Creative Writing, with a minor in History. Currently, I am taking a year of from school in order to purse a bone marrow transplant in June of 2018.
In 2014, I began my healthcare journey my Sophomore year of high school when I began passing out in classes. As it progressed throughout high school, my disease worsened & I was repeatedly admitted to the hospital in 2015 & 2016. Finally, I was diagnosed with MAS/HLH, Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA), and Celiac Disease. After graduating high school, I was able to receive proper medical care and create a new sense of normal at college. Then, in December of 2017, my disease relapsed and I spent three weeks at Nationwide Children's Hospital. I will be receiving a Bone Marrow Transplant this upcoming June.
In my free time, I'm currently editing my second novel & enjoy working as a free lance portrait photographer. I'm passionate about sharing the experience of chronic & invisible illness, and advocating for healthcare policy. I love the news & I'm a Podcast buff.
